Chic Pomander Escort Cards

Really love these pomander escort cards from Angel & Angela’s Wedding featured on Elizabeth Anne Designs. The whole wedding was chic, modern, and featured bold colors with natural elements. The Bride herself created the stationary, along with these clever guest seating cards.

Vintage DIY Reception

Simple, beautiful, and inexpensive. This DIY reception decor was apart of Catherine and Hans’ wedding over on iDIY. It just goes to show, you can have a classic and stunning wedding on a small budget; this wedding was done with just 3 months and $8,000 to spare. All the DIY details and the vintage theme really make this Seattle wedding memorable.

Halloween Wedding

Autumn WeddingWhen we hear the words “Halloween Wedding” you might think of something horribly tacky, impossibly ridiculous, and something along the lines of distasteful. But that is far from true. Your wedding can be on October 31st, and not be an escapade of slutty nurses and orange and black streamers.

It is common for couples to have their “first time we met” stories based around holidays. Holidays are a cause for social events, parties, and gatherings. This is often where you meet “friends of friends” for the first time, or maybe even be the victim of a friend trying to play cupid. Maybe on the same day, the following year, he proposes! Choosing a day that meant something to you follows in suit with choosing your wedding date. It could be Halloween, and you can get away with it!

Fall Wedding

Here are some great ideas for Halloween themed weddings, or just autumn and fall weddings in general. Incorporate the season, use it as inspiration! Find elements that are true to the time of year, iconic for the season. Pumpkins may be obvious, but maple leaves, greenery, and seasonal floral can also be used. Gold, cinnamon, spiced beer and other warm details are also reminiscent of the atmosphere.

My favorite Fall Wedding details: Spiced (or pumpkin) Beer, hot cocoa wedding favors, pumpkin ice cream, rich chocolate cakes, hot drinks with cinnamon sticks, baked goods, apple strudel, and those clever cinnamon roll lollipop favors!

Check out these great Pumpkin and Autumn themed cocktail ideas, including a Hazelnut Pumpkin Beer Float! Yum!

Vintage Details

I’m a sucker for all things vintage. I love the idea of using antiques as a unique touch in any wedding, or things that follow a vintage style. Here are some of my favorite vintage inspired details for weddings. Best part is, you can DIY and make them fit your wedding theme perfectly.

Antique Vintage Wedding Details

Antique Bottles: salvaged and decorated yourself, or by a creative seller. Look through antique stores or ebay, and decorate them with ribbon or tags from a craft store. Fill them with bath salts as lavish gifts for guests, or apart of table settings.

Antique Vintage BirdcagesRustic Birdcages: for flowers or candles. Buy from an antique store or ebay, or new from a home decor store and paint it, or age it with weathering materials from craft stores to give it a rusted look.

Old Fashioned Candy Bar: at the reception for sweets for your guests. Find apothecary looking glass jars and fill it with your favorite candy.

Hand Drawn Invites: if you’re really creative, you can do it yourself, or hire an artist such as Liam Stevens whom does custom wedding invitations.

Paper Wedding ParasolsParasols: made of paper or even lace. There are crochet patterns for beautiful, vintage looking parasols if you want to make your own. You can often buy the paper parasols white and paint them yourself as well.

All of these details can be as bold and colorful, or as neutral and toned down as you’d like. You can add one or two to a modern theme, or add it to your era inspired wedding. They are all versatile and I think they look great in any color.
