Cakes by April Reed

I stumbled upon April Reed’s website, featuring all of her beautiful wedding cake designs, and fell in love! They are all so crisp and modern, the designs are just flawless. My favorite just might be the carnation cake; featuring hand made sugar carnations, vanilla bean cake with pecan butter! Such amazing texture, what a classic cake. I also can’t help but love the truffle cake, and the dot cake. Visit her site for even more beautiful designs.

Quick Palette #2

I love the idea of balancing shamelessly girly elements with rough natural ones, such as raw wood with silk ribbon or pink flowers. I fell in love with the invitation shown below and it inspired this palette. (Whats with my interest in pastels lately??)

Happy Holidays, everyone! Took a short break as I was away on vacation with family. I’m back now and ready for posting. This is the second post I mentioned in the last Vintage inspired post. I found so many beautiful photos on my hunt that I ended up breaking it down into two schemes. Both very similar, but equally elegant. Both posts feature shoes from Anthropologie, which was the starting point for both palettes, such retro, elegant style in these heels.

Vintage Wedding Theme

Vintage Wedding ThemeThe pale pink, cream, and muted rose colors are fantastic for vintage themes. Dusty rose in particular comes to mind. They may remind you of your grandma, but with the touch of specific elements, patterns, and bold statements, you can balance class and taste with rustic and retro. However, this theme may come off predominantly girly, but I think with the right elements, you can really make it more warm than feminine. A bold brown can easily be paired with scheme, which is perfect for the groom and keeps with the overall warmth of the palette.

Perhaps only adding to the “girly” feel of the theme, but I think only adds more of a vintage feel, is incorporating plenty of floral such as classic roses of varying colors, satin ribbon, lace, and intricate patterns.

I love all things vintage, and when I saw the beautiful bridal jewelry featured over on Sienna Wedding by Haute Bride, and photographed by Jennifer Skog, I was inspired to do vintage post.

Rustic Vintage Antique Wedding

Love all the old lace doilies colors: beige, taupe, cream, dusty rose, thrown in with a little bit of green. Soft patterns and pearls are also great details to this theme. Though the palette is really neutral, I think it doesn’t have to come off girly, as you can lean more towards rustic. Traditional silver for the table settings, a satin ribbon on the wedding dress, and ‘home cooking’ give this scheme a warm feel.

Found so much on my hunt that I will have to do a part two soon enough, with a little more pink in the color scheme.
